Using Paul logic, every system of government vests absolute power in someone.
I'd rather it be a whole bunch of people than just one dude. Enlightened despots have existed throughout history but never for more than two or maybe three generations. That seems to be the limit of depostism.
Democracy, on the other hand, seems to have a shelf life of at least several hundred years.
