Because it doesnt allow pron to be shown on the library computers. Seriously the library is not the place for pron on computers. There could be children there

I think the ACLU is the most destructive and evil organization in existence.

I would credit the church of satan over those asshats.

I'm usually with the ACLU even on controversial issues. I cannot however think of a good reason that people should be looking at pron in the library.

Porn is a for profit industry satisfying an outlet for hormones. I don't see at all how this is even remotely a legitimate case or a sensible use of ACLU funds. However, knowing that ACLU is a bad political actor in certain areas, I am not terribly surprised if they have other motivations here.

Need to know details, as usual. I've read that, in an attempt to keep porn off library computers, the libraries end up keeping all sorts of non-porn stuff off, too. The example used was that things like breast cancer couldn't be searched for on library computers. That was a few years ago, though, and I don't know how much anti-porn tools have evolved since then.

Librarians in Seattle can't ask someone not to view porn. It isn't a matter of filtering tech, it's a matter of policy. Creeps sit there and watch hardcore stuff in plain view of children.

Well, though it's a tough call, I'd say I side with the ACLU. Libraries should not be in the censorship business. One person's porn is another person's sexy movie. And, what about violence? No R rated violent stuff allowed? What about racist stuff? What about anti-government talk? All of those are things people would want to be taken off library computers.

Since you're calling for public libraries to not have any discretion over their own facilities then the obvious and ironic (and bad..) solution is to end public libraries.

I'm sure that will serve the community to your liking.

The library should allow them to view it.

And then let the police arrest the person viewing it for contributing to the delinquency of a minor when they do it in front of children.
