That kid should be embarrassed for failing 3 classes out of laziness. If he doesn't want to be embarrassed about it again then he will do better next time.

Humiliation and embarrassment are motivating when used properly and sparingly as teaching tools. As weapons they are cruel, and therein lies the difference.

What role do you think his parents played in his failing?

Do you think they sat and helped him study, or encouraged him to try his best?

Where did he learn to be lazy from?

Parents teach their children many things. The majority of them are unintentional.

I still think the best one was the kid standing at a freeway offramp holding a sign saying "Since I don't care about school and am failing my Mom wants me to practice for my new career".
