When my brother was young, he stole some stuff (candy, and a toy) from the store across the street from our house.

My dad made him bring it back, tell the owner that he took it.

He then punished him, and put a sign on the door, telling his friends why he could not play.

I think that was the last time he ever stole anything.

When my daughter was 5 she stole a candy bar from a grocery store after I told her she couldn't have it and I didn't discover it until we got home. The next day we took money from her piggy bank and went back to the store and she had to tell the store manager what she'd done, apologize, and give him the money for the candy. That memory is burned in her little brain and I don't expect to see her steal anything ever again.

The dad in the video rocks. He made a point that his son will likely never be able to forget, no matter how hard he tries. lol

one of my twins has grabbed stuff in the supermarket a few times and tried to make off with the goods. She's only 2 so I cut her a little slack. The problem is those new carriages with the cars on the front, you can't always see what they're up to.

I don't think humiliation and embarrassment are healthy teaching tools.

What's healthy?

Seriously all this talk about healthy this or healthy that, wtf does it really mean?

People are fucked up. I don't think there is a single parent on Earth who doesn't fuck their kid up somehow. That's life.

Sure they are.

I deliberately broke a toy that belonged to my younger brother. It wasn't the first time, and I'd gotten a spanking the prior time.
Dad found out, took my favorite toy, got me a sledgehammer and made me smash it.

I didn't break any more of my brother's stuff.
