i have trouble hearing some dialogue on my tv and am looking for a somewhat cheap way to get some proper audio

I bought one and it sucked. It was a Samsung and came with a sub woofer. The sound was maybe 5% better than the stock speakers on my television. I took it down because it was an eyesore.

Depends on the room you are putting it in. A traditional room with 4 walls for sound to bounce off and create a surround sound effect is ideal for a sound bar. An open room or one with vault ceilings etc messes up the way its supposed to work and you end up with a glorified bar of speakers forever trying to bounce a sound wave to the back of your head but failing.
That being said, my house is a Samsung house and all my tv's monitors, blu ray and dvd players are all Samsung. So naturally I got the Samsung sound bar with sub as well. Works great, better sound than the tv speakers, and I get decent surround sound effects.
