I get that the suits want to get rid of "VN" and roll everything into "IGN", probably saying a lot of fancy corporate-speak while doing it. But what real purpose does it do to abolish the old boards?
Look up at the top. We already have an ign.com address. There's a big "Powered by IGN" graphic over the shadowblade chick. We already know who's boss around here. Why risk banishing a loyal membership to the four winds and the 500 "sekrit" boards that everyone is now making?
Heavy-handed corporate attempts to modify users' behavior always end in failure unless done with subtlety... and IGN has all the subtlety of Microsoft on a meth binge.

The people using both board systems is dropping and they think pushing them all together under one system will revitalize it is my guess.
