I also had to do some things to free up space. My 60gb drive had like 20gb left after windows installed.

I turned off page file which freed up a whole 16gb, disabled hibernate and ie8.

All the sudden I had like 41gb free, which was after I installed maya.

pagefile made that much diff?

did you see a performance hit after disabling it?

and ie8? how did disabling that free up so much space.

not challenging joo...just curious...

and to the op.. there are lots of clonig software progs out there.. Acronis, Norton Ghost are just for that.. but ya, there is nothing like a fresh clean install.

i know it can be a pita..but more often than not it is totally worth it.

I was wondering why page file took so much too, pretty retarded. No difference in performance.

ie8 freed up like 1gb.

Pagefile is about 4gb on average.
Hibernate uses another 4-6gb on average

So yes, getting rid of that crap helps.

Look online for some SSD Performance / Tweak guides.

These are both older, google for some newer versions maybe.

Page files are typically the same size as your total amount of RAM.

I'd recommend moving the page file to a secondary (larger) drive rather than disabling it completely, but if you're like Ticky and have 16GB (apparently) RAM, it's not a big deal.

Turning off hibernation is a big deal. It's 4-8GB.

Oh, and the page file? You have to disable it at the command line, or the file doesn't get deleted.
