My plastic container for catching and storing the oil after an oil change broke on me. I've now got a clusterf**k on my hands in the form of plastic, dirt, grass, oil, and oily paper towels vaguely contained in trash-bags. Where can I get rid of this? Supposedly not supposed to dump oil...

I think you can take it to any auto parts store or any auto repair shop and by law they have to take it.

A garage will recycle the oil but not with all that other crap.

Up to a certain amount. There should be a waste disposal facility if you live in a developed area.

not the dirt, broken plastic, soggy paper towels

also in MA I'm pretty sure they require a receipt that you bought oil there and you have to bring the oil back in the empty containers you bought from them.

that's how it used to be, not sure if they've lightened up since I moved back.

Well that's ok for you sitting on a 100 acre compound but for the rest of us it sucks. One qt. of oil will contaminate an acre of land.

re-use it as fire starter.
