It is about 25-35% faster than the GTX580, which is based on Fermi and 2 years old.

nVidia's Keplar architecture is due to come out in the next 2-3 months and you can bet it will be faster than this, at the same price.

In other words: wait.

I've done that 3 or 4 times. Basically, max frame rates at high resolutions with all graphics turned on.

These days, it is a bit of a waste due to how everything is built for consoles, but there was a period when it was considered normal if you wanted the best. Of course, part of the reason I was paying $600 was due to the Canadian Dollar being worth 3 cents US at the time.

If you're doing something like 3D modelling, running a really complex GIS, Remote Sensing or CAD software, or anything else along those lines I might understand dumping that much on your graphics.

For video games, you wont notice a difference between that and a 150 dollar card...
