I finished all the A Song of Fire and Ice books...

I mostly liked them, but he kept killing people off without any rhyme or reason. He spent countless words building up a character and then kills them without any build up to the killing. Just oh, story getting good - you are dead from something unrelated to the good story.
SPOILERS BELOW.
Jon Snow probably isn't permanently gone. Most people think that Jon warged into Ghost before he died, and Melisandre is going to resurrect his body like Thoros did to Beric Dondorrian and Catelyn/Lady Stoneheart, and how whatshisname did to Gregor Clegane (assumed, not confirmed at this point).

not sure about Gregor Clegane but yeah, Martin himself would not confirm whether Jon was truly dead or alive. I agree with you, I think he did warg into Ghost and may find some way to be resurrected.

I loved the first two books, genuinely thought it was the best fantasy series I have ever read. Every new installment gets progressively more tedious and because of the utterly stupid time between books im forced to reread the entire series each time, think im officially done now.
Maybe I will pick them up again when(if) the series is ever completed.
