Just remember removing a bedroom reduces resell value. Most people want extra bedrooms. And a complete bathroom renovation is not easy to undo before selling.
Just something to think about.

Hey Reap when you do this project you might want to set a side money for a contractor to complete it.
I am only saying this knowing your medical history. Your wife will be pissed if you start then have another stroke or other issue and it never gets done.

I thought about that. The area would be wide enough, but I would rather use the extra area for cabinets. Anyone that's ever lived in a house knows you always need more storage. And, there is still the other bathroom plus my wife doesn't wear makeup. I know it might be better for the resale, but we never plan to sell. We just want to make it best for us.

My husband and I are planning what to do with the upstairs bathroom in the house we are moving into. then also thinking of remodeling the downstairs bathroom area too because that is where our son will be hanging out most of the time.

pk, if like us you plan to be in that house the rest of your life, make it work for you. We will never sell. Mortgage is $1100 a month and the rent house in the back yard rents for $650 and that is cheap. We could probably get $750 or $800 if we really wanted to. We only want to make it high enough though to attract a better class of people. That little house house has been remodeled top to bottom inside and out and it primo.

Yeah, me too. I'm very good with sheetrocking and mudding and taping. Even custom work. I once turned an attic in a hundred year old house into a master bedroom with a 16 foot cathedral ceiling. Turned one gable in a bathroom and another into a closet. The third remained a gable. I bet I used 500 gallons of mud up there. Had a roughcut cedar beam cross that a ceiling fan and light hung from with a 3 foot drop bar. It was pretty impressive us there.
So I might even remove a door and the facing and part of the wall to get the tub in then go back and rebuild it.

ours is paid off and we are selling it
