I never did it, but I watched a lot of drunk guys do it when I was a teenager. One even fell, and forgot to let go of the bumper, ended up going through his pants and had a nice big roadrash raspberry on his ass.

when I was a kid, they didn't tie sleds to a bumper, they'd just grab on and slide on their shoes.
of course, this was around the same time that Back to the Future movies came out.
