Today I added 2 platies
And 1 guppy to my tank
There was already one of each species in the tank.
Anyways the old Guppy has been chasing one of the new platie for hours, nipping at it. Maybe trying to mate, didn't like its scale pattern, idk.
Now my old platie is "running interference", blocking the guppy from getting close to the new platie. The Platies could probably fight off the little guppy, but I guess it's not in their genes. So the chase continues, on hour 5 now.
(yeah I know they're both schooling fish, the previous guppies and platies died..)

Very true, I still like fish though. Although I'd probably trade them for a rat right now.

I have 3 guppies and a dwarf gourami in a 10 gallon.
Guppies huddle together, Gourami goes around like a boss.

Try changing around your tank decor, it can help break up established terrotorial lines and make it easier on the new fish to integrate into the tank. Your new guppy looks like a couple I recently bought.

I bought gold fish in hopes that the turtle would eat them but it refuses to, so now I have 9 gold fish that wont die.
