fk you i live in san diego.  anyway i put my dogs in my parents room with the door open enough for them to come and go outside. this will make the bedroom basically as cold as it is outside and one of our dogs has like shaved hair. he gets super cold really fast. should i leave a heater on back there? i'm worried about the fire safety aspect of it. i know of enough people who have died at night from little space heaters.  i would greatly prefer to a. not die in a fire and b. not kill my pets in a fire. but then i also know i can't leave them in that room with the door open w/o a heater being on.

They can't go the night without going out? The only warm room in my house is the office so if it gets cold enough Harper leaves me and migrates into there.

my big dog can but the little dog will pee in the house. the big dog wakes me up if he has to go out or notices that the little one does too. this is also something i avoid as ardently as the dog peeing on the floor. disrupting my sleep cycle atm really fks my body over for the rest of the day.

I've been having to take pups out late night/early morning all winter. Single digits.
Looks like you'll just have to anticipate it peeing at some point cuz you can't leave a heater on unattended, nor let them freeze to death. Set out the Lysol and get ready.

it's in the low 40s here atm.  the little heater is struggling against the cold air coming in from the door.

Low 40s here too. Makes for quick potty breaks, lol. I open the door, say 'go potty', Harper sprints for the closest piece of grass and power pees then runs back inside. He'd never make it somewhere with snow.
