Its not as big as I thought it'd be. Only 8lbs or so and fits perfectly in my backpack.

Well he could always just not take the battery to make it lighter -- I dont see that as working long without a power cord available. Might want to invest in some form of external cooling for it also -- that thing probably gets hotter than blue blazes. Afraid to ask what you paid for that thing.
