If I'm DESTINED to save humanity then it doesn't matter who I bring, does it? It could be 50 clowns or 50 scientists and it wouldn't make a difference.

Musician: Ted Nugent. The guy can hunt so he won't be a complete waste of space.
Scientist: I dunno. Burt Rutan maybe? He's probably more an engineer though.
Movie Star: Shatner. He can reprise his role as Kirk and bang any female aliens we find.
Athlete: Whoever the current Olympic marathon winner was. Running a lot could be useful.
Artist: Umm... Some artist who has skills other than artisting?
Writer: George R. R. Martin. He's not getting out of finishing A Game of Thrones that easy.
Politician: Cheney. I figure the same as nugent he can hunt and also maybe arrange for a hunting accident if someone gets too annoying.
I would bring my wife and the cat. Does the cat take a spot? He's coming either way. I'd be tempted to fill most of the rest of the spots with family since most of us are pretty smart, but that might be awkward trying to repopulate a planet.
Edit: One of the Duggar daughters. Somebody has to start cranking babies out. Hopefully it's in the genes.

Do you bring YOUR family? or do you try and fill the ship with more important people? What other professions would you make sure are aboard the ship? Nah, the genetic diversity of the mothers will offset that actually and with my perfect genetics, it would give us a fairly good starting point.
