Yeah, my cousin uses them on a couple of his work trucks. Its what he uses to hitch the horse and small cattle trailers up to his pick ups for local transportation.

I have never seen a shackle like that be used for towing. Way too much play in the connection. Someone might use something like that for the safety chain connection, but not the main hook up connection.
As for the truck nutz, i dont know how anyone could be taken seriously with that crap on their truck. This is just another case of some douchebag trying to make some kind of redneck statement, like the truck nutz.
