if you never read the original Edgar Rice Burroughs books, the movie wasn't that bad. some of the script writing could have been alot better. if you go into it without expecting too much, you should enjoy it.
Pretty much a brilliant rule for any adaptation of one art form to another.
Agreed. Most book to movie adaptions I'm fine with because I understand you simply cannot keep every little thing the same when telling the story via two different mediums. The only time I get really annoyed is when they alter something that is a fundamental part of the original story or characters when there was really no reason to do so.
I haven't seen John Carter yet, and I don't expect it to follow the books much, so I'm thinking I'll enjoy it.
yeah that's what ruined the lord of the rings movies for me. i was fine with the changes up until they changed faromir for no reason.

Yep that was seriously the one thing that bugged the crap out of me in regards to those movies. Everything else was phenomenal.

From the trailer I thought it was a Wolverine sequel.
I'm currently reading the Mars trilogy from Burroughs so I'll probably hate the movie.

No. The movies were exactly like the books: the first one was great, the second one lost me, and I couldn't force myself to give a isht by the time the third was done.
