That word has almost no meaning in the Auto industry anymore. Does that mean buy a Toyota or Honda? They are the two top front to end producers of vehicles in the US? Does that mean buy one of the companies that the government owns? Does that mean buy someone like Ford who is based out of Detroit but actually has most of their jobs outside of the US?
What exactly does that even mean?

I am so pleased to see you use this phrase properly instead of the semi-literate bastardizations of it that I've seen such as "intense purposes", "intense and purposes", etc.

Hehe I know just what you mean. It makes my skin crawl when I see someone type "walla!" instead of "voila!" There are other phrases/words that annoy me when used improperly, but I can't think of any others just at the moment 
That being said, I'm positive there are words and phrases that I use improperly too, without realizing it.
