My friends used to do that in grade 7. I never actually participated though, other than watching. Thank God there was some common sense in my brain at the time...

Maybe, but I bet that binge drinking is not quite as fatal. Didn't David Carradine choke himself to death? I don't think it's just for the young.

Yes, autoerotic asphyxiation is how Carradine died I believe and it is not the same thing as this is though.
With that said though there are relatively "safe(r)" ways to play the "pass out game" (again, not the same thing as how Carradine died) which I won't go into here.

If by "it" you mean the hyperventilate and pass out thing - I have. I was a junior in college. Tried it once. Found the experience to be very disconcerting and unpleasant (and I'm pretty adventurous with such sorts of things) and never did it again.
