Yes, for the "think about it from the other side" reason, not for the "to make someone upset" reason. My wife always fails to note that distinction.
I do it to piss people off. Why would I care if someone can or can't think of something from another side?

Never. My ex-husband loved nothing more than to argue with anyone about anything. And when there was no one else around, he'd try to argue with me and go to great extremes to try and get a rise out of me - the jerk.
As a result, I can walk away from an argument with no compunction at all. I do the same with any jerk who try to just get a rise out of me. I'm virtually un-trollable
