Yeah the gas mileage and the center-lining in traffic are the two things I miss about bike commuting.

I watched a motorcycle driver get killed. It wasnt his fault and there wasn't a thing he could have done different. he was driving his motorcycle through a 4 way intersection and a van blew through the light. poor guy plowed right into the side of the van and broke his neck.

and yes he was wearing a helmet.

Im not saying this to dissuade you from getting a bike, Im saying thats why I'd never get one for myself. Too many morons behind the wheel in Massachusetts. I want some metal around me and maybe even an airbag.

I only did it at lights and in gridlock. Never understood center-lining when traffic was moving. It is hard enough to get respect/attention from drivers without making your own lane, heh.

As for the whole safety/other drivers thing that is the main reason I sold my bike after coming to CA. I drove for years in rain and dealing with blue hairs in FL with no problem. After coming to CA I got in so many close calls and then finally in an accident much like Fozzie describes that I just said screw it and sold it. it is a shame there are some great places to go riding around here.

It's "illegal," here in California too - but they're only going to pull you over if the cop perceives that you are doing it in an "unsafe," manner.

I'm not saying I'm invincible but I'm super cautious when I ride. That being said, I've never owned a sport style of bike; so there will be an adjustment period.

Current ride :

If this were a gxsr 1000, I'd agree. This is a v-twin putt around bike that happens to LOOK aggressive. I don't even think it can get the front wheel off the ground. We'll see lol
