he was halfway in the turn lane, he had his brakes on, his turn signal was on, he took the corner a bit wide, and the bikes tried to pass on the left.

That's what I saw too.
Pretty hard to blame the taxi on that one.

Uh, no. The taxi was all the way in the center lane. And it's a taxi for godsake. I can understand any other car, but taxi drivers should, you know, know how to drive.
