i think ser is supposed to be a gender neutral version of sir, they use it in dragon age too

Any questions you have of this series can be answered by mentally picturing a slightly sweating George R.R. Martin sitting in front of his computer wearing only a soiled pair of tighty-whities and chewing thoughtfully on a pen. Occasionally he lifts his left ass cheek off the chair and farts, then inhales deeply.

There is a reason George RR Martin made an evil dwarf the most likable character in the books and the second most likable a fat, useless, coward.
