Aaaah I get what you're saying...anyone know if there's a way to look at all the log in tips? I'm curious now if I read/remember it wrong or.....

Actually a mob can dodge an attack from behind.
Is this a new thing? Didn't used to be that way, in fact I seem to recall on those little log in tips is mentions as much, that a mob can't dodge an attack from behind...but maybe that's something out of the 2005 book again...
Been this way since launch. They used to be able to parry, but that was removed sometime in Vanilla.

Players cannot dodge, parry, or block attacks that come from behind them.

So it was players, not mobs.
Aaaaannnd:
Creatures can dodge attacks from behind, but players cannot. Neither creatures nor players can parry attacks from behind.
