How does dating someone allow you to drive away?
Also, in my imagining of the events, Lexi is the dog too.

This poor girl was love struck and you beat up an old lady and did sexual stuff because she looked at you funny. Would seem you'd need more hours of anger management. 
Joking aside probobly has to do with crimes of the heart are more acceptable than random violence but you're right should be closer in hours.
