sorry --- that was more of a rant than anything else
i like ham hocks in my beans ... onions are ok ... never tried Bay Leaves
i get tired of my wife boiling them to death

I don't care for the bay leaves in my beans either.
My father liked bacon in his beans.
I like to hack up a small ham, put some onion powder in the beans if people don't like chunks of onion. And wow are they so much better cooked outside in a cast iron kettle!!

My father made kidney beans with molasses, salt pork, onion and some mustard powder.
I hate beans, but everyone else loved his.
