I liked the book. First was much better than the 2nd or 3rd.

The original are usually better than the hollywood remakes. Hollywood is lacking innovation these days.

Arguably this isn't a remake - it's another adaptation. Both films are based on the same book.

Although it's an excellent review it almost seems that at times you're reviewing the story itself, rather than this particular vision of it.

I see what you're saying. I tend to talk about those things that interest me the most; in this case it is the story, as well as the character of Lisbeth. It's true I didn't spend much time discussing things such as direction in much detail. However - it's all excellent. It's just a good movie, pretty much across the board.

Have you considered adding a section to your reviews that covers the nudity in each film? Like, it could be inside a box so it is easy for me to find.

My point is simply that the things you say about the audience reaction are really rooted in the story itself. It may be that this is a great adaptation of a great story, and I suspect that it is, but that was my reaction. Even as a reader you cringed for the rape, enjoyed the idea of the revenge but then recoiled at the sheer savagery of it.

Not a criticism, just an observation.

That is one of the reason Jackson's LOTR works. He actually brings to life a good approximation of what we see in our heads when we read the books. That is likely the case here.

Then again you may just be a hack.
