Huges wife wears the pants of the family and Huges feels less of a man. This is how he thinks to get even with her for doing what he should be doing which is to support the family by working.
My father was insecure and he felt he had to put my mom down all the time by being extra critical about how clean the house was and her cooking. The thing is after they got divorced and he was living alone he kept the house the exact same way, very dirty, cluttered, and he was a horder too

Make a New Years Resolution to exercise with your wife. Start simple and invite her to take a walk with you some evening. You don't even need to say it's for exercise - just "hey, let's go walk the dog together"

This is a complex situation... She getting overweight and not caring what you think while youre burdenned with kids and a home/life together.
