When you are the dominate one (ie... "The Man"  you don't have lie... it's when you are cowardly and don't want to take responsibility for your words that you have to lie. (most men have been beaten down to be submissive to women these days).

But you still sound like you have a (not to be mean, but) weak, unassured personality. Confidently saying the truth is much different than an shy type person telling the truth. When you're shy women will think they can walk all over you, and they are above you. So when a shy person criticizes them, they pretty much think "I am too good for you anyways" and moves on.

Hard to be extra confident when you dont have too much experience with relationships and also less than successful in your chosen job.

On a date, if a woman says she has met a bunch of losers lately..
Thats just her venting.
The right response to that is not "you have terrible choices in men"...
The right answer is along the lines " i know what you mean.. Its hard to meet someone right"
Something reassuring, she is just venting amd making SMALL talk. But with you, there is no small talk i guess.
