I had a first gen. iPhone. I miss its stability greatly, but I hated the fact that you couldn't do crap with it without jailbreaking it. Oh, and iTunes is about as big of a bucket of fail as a media manager can possibly be. Still, Siri is a move in the right direction and does some of what I could do with an Android phone + Tasker.

I use podcasts quite a bit to get my news, and it looks like iPhone is still stuck in iTunes for transferring podcasts so it looks like the 4S is out for me.

if you have any tech sense at all you will get an Android of some sorts

I'll gladly get an Android, provided it beats the Droid X. That was supposed to be the flagship of the Android line two years ago, but it's riddled with bugs and performance issues - and it's not just mine, but my wife's so I doubt it's a hardware problem. I'm amazed at how many raving reviews it received to be honest, and that's part of the reason I'm asking here instead of relying solely on reviews which say "THIS FONE IS AWESOME!!".

That's what I have. It's my first smartphone, so I can't compare it to anything, but, I'm quite happy with it. Fast, sturdy, good screen, pretty easy to figure out, seems to have zillions of apps.

I'm leaning toward the Galaxy Nexus the more I read up on it. The RAZR is another Motorola phone so I'm a little leery of it. The only real selling point to the RAZR would appear to be the battery life on the Maxx version, and the camera has a few more megapixels on it.
