Germany is gathering whole division of voluenteer tax collectors to send to Greece. Greece loses 60 billion every year because of tax evasion being national sport.

160 voluenteers have signed up so far and right now they're being taught important greek phrases like "Left knee or right knee?" and "SHOW ME THE MONEY!"

I was in Athens several years ago on business. i.e. everything is on the company's dime, so everything was tabulated for their books.
We found that a good many of the cafes asked for cash only, and would not outright turn down a cc but frowned upon them.
We went to a recommended restaurant, ate there, and again they asked for cash. I obliged them paying in money, and then asked for a receipt for my company's books.
We just got done handing them a couple hundred for a group meal but the requesting of a receipt enraged them and they threw us out of the building.

Afterwards I was told that this had became commonplace there as businesses report almost no profits for tax purposes.

Moe, that's interesting.

I've seen that in other parts of the world and it means the places that DO operate above board and are used to international business clientele charge another tack-on to compete with those not paying taxes, and therefore cost a small fortune.

Businesses paying close to no taxes means the economy must be thriving!

They need to be out of the EU and they need to fix their own problems if they so choose. You can't fix a corrupt society from the outside in. Their corruption is pervasive throughout all levels.

Greece is closer to being a third world country than a first world country. If the EU had followed its own standards, Greece wouldn't have been allowed in. What is happening is one of the consequences of not following rational rules.

Greece lied about its finances to get in. There should be repercussions for that.

Europe needs to stop wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on them and force them into default.

The other countries that are near default are watching closely and will want the same bailouts that Greece is given (which will be impossible due to scale). But if Greece gets kicked to the curb, they will miraculously find a way to solve their own problems rather than risk the same fate.
