It won't be anything like the BG we remember, so it's pointless to get our hopes up.

We'll see I'm not going to get my hopes up, they will pull a f'kin Herdeprhederp Bioware move on us and you'll be forced to endure a 20 minute love scene where your character is homosexually molested by Minsc and Boo.
Then again it i's developed by Black Isle who made the earlier games, we'll see.

Are you sure it isn't just someone who bought the site name and used a midi of the music? Because the quality on the sound is crap and obviously lifted from the original games.
Also, they should make Planescape:Torment 2 before they make another Baldur's Gate.

Wouldn't have to be an improvement. And they shouldn't use the nameless one as the main character. It should be a new story set in the same setting, with some cameo appearances.

I disagree, I want to keep torment pristine.

It's a wonderful setting. No reason to never reuse the setting just because the first game was really good.

posted:UPDATE: The source code behind the teaser website includes cryptic references to the Baldur's Gate series and lore:
Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine.
For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory.
And then... it returned. Better than it was before.
Pore over the tapestries and works of art hanging from our walls if you wish, Child of Bhaal... perhaps you will find a clue. But patience, ah... patience would reveal it all.
As the silver moon waxes and wanes, so too does life.
...
So, who's behind this new Baldur's Gate?
GameBanshee reports the developer is Beamdog, a company co-founded by BioWare veteran Trent Oster. Oster worked on Baldur's Gate, lead the development of Neverwinter Nights and its expansions, and worked for two years as the Director of Technology and lead the development on BioWare's Eclipse Engine, which powers Dragon Age. He left BioWare in June 2009.
Beamdog did an HD remake of MDK2, so there's a good chance that's what this is going to be, given the "raise dead"/"better than before" bits.
