IIRC White Wolf deals with crosses by saying it's not the symbol itself but the force of the belief of the bearer. Whether the religion is "true" or not doesn't matter as much as the conviction of the believer.

It seems to work for some priests, at least on young boys. I don't know about vampires.

We all know vampires hate sunlight. Well the cross symbolizes being crucified (AKA having nails driven through your wrists and feet and then hung out in sunlight).
