I'm all for freedom to bear arms but I would like gun safety classes to be manditory and gun safes or gun locks be requred.
So you are free to bear arms after you pay for a bunch of classes and buy a bunch of extra crap. What about psych testing? Age limits? How about if I'm blind? What about laws on Saturday Night Specials designed to prevent poor people from defending themselves?

Bonk in his continual struggle to adopt whatever viewpoint is trending highest AT THE MOMENT, has hit upon the argument of the folks who really want guns banned, but who make these so-called concessions in the form of onerous regulation and cost prohibitive caveats with the knowledge that such measures will in fact curtail gun ownership.

Sure you can have a gun, I have NO problem with you having a gun, but you have to pay a whole lot more to do so. Why the fees you ask? well the fees of course cover the costs of training you in our official program which is another condition of ownership... oh and your certification for safe handling will need to be renewed every year, at a fee of $100 per gun you own. Those fees will help to support our administration of this national firearms owner, er... I mean national firearms SAFETY training recipient database blah blah blah blah...
