Most high end systems don't draw 600 watts ever. I have a fairly high end system and the most I've ever seen it draw is 350 watts and that was while overclocking my graphics card and running burnin software to test the OC. And that was with the PC, Monitor and 2 other devices plugged in.

This.
It's hilarious to see all the PC tech / electronics noobs who think they have to add another 200W to the PSU every time they build a new gen comp, and are sitting on some 1300W, $300 monster cause they "need" it.

Waste of money to get something that will power your computer for 20 minutes to a half hour. You just need something that works long enough for your system to shut down. Use your smart phone or tablet pc when you lose power

One of mine just powers the cable modem and router. Cause Comcast is too dumb to send a reboot signal when you downgrade your internet speed. So as long as your modem never loses signal you can keep the faster speed. I stopped paying for 20mbit over 6 months ago (downgraded to 8), but until the storm knocked out the cable and power for 3 days mid-Feb, I still had the higher speed.

What about when your computer is on and you're away from home and you have a power outage? It protects against a hard shutdown and potential data loss.
Your thinking is flawed here.
