What do you really care about?

I mean what is it that keeps you awake at night or drives you during the daylight hours to do more than you think you can or should?
Is it your faith?
Is it your family?
Is it fear of success?
Is it fear of failure?
Is it money?
How about power?
The older I get the more things shift towards my family. They are everything to me. Abortion rights, gay rights, the Deficit, Obama, Romney, Paul, Iran et al... They are drastically less important.
My needs are to provide a home and safe haven for my family. The rest of this is just noise to me. I know I should be more involved in what ails the world but it's hard to view through a lens that does not leave me in a spittle fueled rage about the apathy that has left us where we are...
Anyway just curious. I wonder if all our needs aren't that much different.

I can keep myself up worrying about my family and they are what is the most important.
But lately I think I have been more concerned with where my career is going. It is very easy to get caught in a position that stagnates.

One of the main reasons I am in negotiations to buy another anodizing company is for a challenge. If I died tomorrow my family would be taken care of but I need something more to do.

My family..
My future career
going back to college
seeing how it all ends.
experiencing new food and wines
travel to new continents and meeting new people
falling in love again and falling out of love
getting kids hopefully
growing old and crabby at my country house while learning to play the banjo.

Back to where I was before the wife and kids since the wife is dead and the kids are in their 30s with kids of their own.
