wife got me a kindle fire for my birthday

and i want to kick it across the room. why anyone (other than apple) thought it was a cool idea to create a tablet and intentionally gimp the crap out of it is beyond me. i'm taking it to italy on vacation tomorrow to use as an ereader and convenient web browser/email. if i like it, i'll root it when i get back so i can actually install real apps. otherwise it's going back.
sadly, my 2 year old gets my galaxy tab 10.1 so he has cooler technology than i do.

Where in Italy are you going? I was stationed there for two years in the military. If you aren't going to Florence you might as well not go IMO.
Be sure to give a detailed trip report.

we're doing rome, bologna, verona. milan. we've already been to venice and florence. might go to venice for an afternoon if Verona is weak.
i'm hoping to achieve a pasta and gelato coma within the first couple of days.

If you go to Venice, there is a little city about thirty miles north called Azzano Decimo. It was the tenth city Attila the Hun pillaged when he came to Italy  . Mia cuginetta (my cousin lives there) . That is my mothers side of the family's home town.

Jeebus how long are you staying? That's a lot of cities for a two week trip.
You could spend a year in Florence or Rome or Milan and not see half of what there is to see.
