If you are bankrupt, giving out 4 billion a year to oil companies is probably not a great idea. So basically you are saying Obama is smart and doing the right thing?

At least when gas prices go up we will know for sure it is Obama's fault.

It's funny. He's perfectly willing to pay car companies to produce jobs, but he doesn't want to pay oil companies to produce jobs. I guess the major difference is that the auto industry gives more to the Democrats and the oil companies give more to Republicans.

That being said I hope he takes away every single oil company subsidy and every auto subsidy. And every other company subsidy for that matter.

I don't think Obama would have given money to the car industry if they weren't about to collapse and lay off all their workers. I don't think anyone is arguing the oil companies are about to collapse and fire all their workers and that's why they need the subsidies.

We can talk about whether Obama's automaker rescue made sense but your attempted equivalency is patently false.

Exaggerate much? Some workers would have been laid off eventually and some would have been hired by other companies.

Even if you were right, so what?

Not for the reason you gave. Got any other reasons it's off base?

Obama bailed out the auto industry because it was about to go under. There's nothing hypocritical about bailing out a failing industry but saying we shouldn't be giving billions to a thriving industry. Unless you are Paulg and retarded, apparently.

Really, so there was going to be zero auto industry if not for Obama? Talk about patently false.

Obama didn't even give money to huge segments of the industry and those segments didn't go under. It's exactly the same as the oil industry subsidies. The government gives money to prop up the unprofitable parts and doesn't give money to the parts that are doing fine.

The equivalency is near perfect. The major difference being that the auto industry contributes more to the Democrats and the oil industry gives more to the Republicans.

If you want to fight over whether Obama bailed out the auto industry or specific companies have at it I guess. I'm not really interested.

The oil companies we subsidize are not about to go under. Saying it's the same thing to give tax money to thriving companies and to bail out failing companies is just stupid and only someone like you would think it's a good comparison.

No need to argue that point now that you've acknowledged that you were lying when you said he bailed out the entire industry.

Do you think it makes a difference to the people whose jobs are saved? Why does it make a difference to the taxpayer?

You're insisting that there are differences, well maybe, but they seem trivial. Why should anyone care about them when they have the same effect on the interested parties?
