This is consistent with Zimmerman’s statement to the police that he stopped chasing Martin and was returning to meet with police when Martin confronted him.

Its a shame that this nation has sunk this low. The man spots a suspicious looking, drug dealing teenager walking around an upper class neighborhood that he obviously does not belong in. He follows the the drug dealer for a little while and then calls the police. He still tries to track the dealer to help the police. The cops tell him to go back to his truck, while walking back to his truck zimmerman is attacked by the teenager and was heard screaming for his life. He shot the drug dealer for the safety of him and the neighborhood and people want to lynch him for it.

MSNBC President Phil Griffin knew that Sharpton said this sort of stuff regularly--that, in fact, such bigotry and radical rhetoric was an integral part of the Sharpton persona. He hired him nonetheless. One has to wonder if Brian Williams, Matt Lauer, and Tom Brokaw are proud.
