The very reason I got 'hooked' on DAoC way back when was I could e-mail my brother-in-law the Herald stats and show him what a chump he was. Broken herald makes me rather disinterested.

Same here, but instead of the email thing I like to know how many people are playing at any one time.
This is rediculous, this game is how old? Website should be flawless and the game should be very well polished...which both are not. I can't believe this game is pay to play? A pay to play game should always have a team makeing code changes when needed, not content shifts. I know plenty of free to play games that recieve more attention than this one and thats sad. We pay to play for the updates not the game (we already paid for that) so what exactly are we paying for? Don't get me wrong but I love DAoC, but it makes me very angry when EA doesn't commit the resources to Mythic to respectfully sustain an MMO - Classic EA! As far as game updates go, quick buck then EA is gone!, and since they never made that quick buck off this game they don't want anything to do with it.

"I know this is a crazy idea. But, wouldn't it be great if games like this that are sort of in old mode let the dedicated players help with some of the work. Sort of like an "open" source game. I bet we have people right on this board that could get the Herald working like a champ in hours. "
Although a great suggestion..there is only a few that could be trusted in the long run (which is a shame) and would only take 1-2 people to realy screw it up.

1) Updating Style and Spell libraries on the Herald. I don't see how you could make this worse.
2) Rewriting some of the guides on the Herald. Housing, Guilds, Tradeskills, All the Champion Levels docs. No trust required. If the Devs don't like it then they can throw it away.
3) There are a few players around that could write a more robust JavaScript Spellcraft calculator.
4) They need more mock ads (they really should be all over the Herald!) http://www.camelotherald.com/mapalot/mockads_list.php
5) Other little fiddly bits.
This is less "open source" and more "community assisted".

6) Fix Housing PHP so players can painlessly find vacant lots by realm across all housing zones and all sub-servers. There has to be a few *helpful* VN lurkers around who could help Mythic with this.
