Don't know code but do know I and many others could make good use of a plugin that would salvage and return items to a user.
Not looking to combine unless an option as users would already have partial bags.
Help please

I'm working on a salvage bot. But, and this is a big but, this is my first attempt at a decal plugin and I don't really have time to offer a lot of support. If I can get it working well enough that I don't think there will be many support requests then I will consider releasing it. I don't expect to have anything available before decal goes beta though. Sorry if that's not the sort of answer you were looking for.

Any news or progress on some plugin to handle salvaging for others, run as a bot?

I have one about 80% complete, written in actool, just working out a few bugs before release.

I think even more interesting would be a tink bot. Give it an item and a bag of salvage, it tells you the odds, you agree or disagree and it attempts the tink.

Umm, there is already two tinkerbot scripts/plugins.
Eltank has a basic one built-in.
ACTool has a full blown one with all the bells and whistles that you could ever ask for.

There already are 2 tinker bots. One written in ACTool that is very popular and then there is also a tinker bot in ElTank.
