had to scramble to get it changed and up in time to log into the vpn and get my tools ready for my shift but I made it
screw you IT and your little traps

On one of mine I went for 3 months missing access to a critical tool. I sent a weekly request for it, and the dimwit handling them forwarded them on to a dead mailbox without ever doing a followup.
In her defense I was making more than her, it was probably hard to stay motivated to even show up, never mind do a part of her job.

at my previous job, they setup the network to warn you when you were within 10 days of expiring, to hopefully avoid hassles like that.

we do that here..
My pwd expired over my vaca, but I just logged in with another admin account and reset it.

We get an email 15 days before password expiry just in case we'll be away from the office when it expires. I go in and change all mine early if I'm going to be on vacation. We have single sign-on for practically all apps and utilities (TACACS/Radius) so I only have to change it once.
