the big worry is sea mines they have some Russian mines that are equipped with a homing torpedo(designed to sink carriers) and they just silently sit and wait on the bottom for something to come along with a matching acoustical signature.

Are you kidding? There are bowl games all day long.
But yeah no, I'm sick and tired of people crying about how we're all out of money and the gubment is just spending like fools, and then every time you turn around people are ready to start stuff with Iran. I don't think they would win any conflict, particularly involving naval exercises, but I'd rather just keep up the sanctions and refuse to engage with them.
