How do you look for a job in 2012

Used to be:
1) There were employment agencies -still a few around but not many
2) look in the newspaper - used to be a whole section now if you get a few pages of min wage jobs without benefits your lucky
3) mail resumes to companies - probably right to the shredder
4) Post online-Monster/career builder - new way for scam artists to contact you or steal your personal data - don't trust anymore
5) network through friends/associates
The 4 major ways are gone and you can only network so much. What else is there.....Linkedin?
How do people get jobs these days? Old ways don't work anymore....

not in NYC, in 1980s there were probably 50 agencies on 1 building in the wall street area.
hi tech is turning into contract work no benefits -------

I don't post my resume publicly but do use LinkedIn most often. I normally have headhunters or HR people calling me.

Drop by -- try to get a tour -- talk to other employees etc -- ask about job openings if things click.

not sure...i haven't applied for a job since 2003 and wont have to again until 2033 (when i am forced out) unless the government collapses!
