Record-Breaking Warmth in the Midwest
Record-breaking warmth engulfed portions of the Midwest Thursday afternoon. Temperatures have reached up to 40 degrees above early January averages in North Dakota.
Minot, N.D. (60 degrees) and Williston, N.D. (57) have both set all-time record highs for the month of January! In Minot, 60 degrees is the average high for late April.
Daily record highs have been set in Des Moines, Iowa, Rapid City, S.D., International Falls, Minn. and Fargo, N.D., to name a few locations.
Although the record warmth subsides on Friday for the Plains, the mild air mass will bully its way eastward.
We're talking temperatures in cities such as Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Detroit and Cincinnati enjoying highs on the order of 10-to-20 degrees above average. High temperatures around 5-to-15 degrees above average will make it all the way to the East Coast including New York City, Washington, D.C. and Charlotte, N.C.

Weather isn't climate, even when it trends the same way. The statistically significant number of extreme weather events we've seen recently could be attributed to global warming, but it is not possible to determine the exact cause of one heat wave.

January 5th and i still dont have snow.
normally everything is white.
also i'm about to have a week in the low 50's...sure the last few days have been cold, but wasn't my winter supposed to be colder?
my 4 tons of pellets and 650 gallons of pre-paid oil are going to waste!
guess we should go back to officially calling it global warming!
OH...and the first day of winter was in the 60's...warmer than most days of my August
go ahead...take this silliness of my weather as me saying this is proof that global warming does not exist.
