When I got my new comp last year, I was amazed at how quiet it was as well.... 
I had put up with 'fan noise' 'wtf is that-noise' and so many other noises my old comp made in the last few months I had it, I shrugged and dealt with it.
This comp I have now...wow...no noise at all, the cooling fans I can BARELY hear....

My ps3 is quiet and my old-ish 360 is far from it. I almost always use my PS3 because of this. When Mass Effect 3 comes out though.... I'll be playing the crap out of that.
