Skylanders is a game in which you plug a portal into your game system and add a physical avatar to the portal to enter them in to the game. There are a bunch of the figures with different abilities and in game challenges. It's a cool game, pretty fun and adds a collectible aspect that other games don't offer. This is a very good incentive to buy the game and collect all the character pieces.
I don't think this game exists if there is no file-sharing and "piracy", spurring the innovation.

Don't do it he'll just want more figures you can't access certain parts of the game w/o them as well so ya that amounts to in game marketing 
DO NOT DO IT!!!
Fun idea and has some interesting applications in the future will probably lead to more inovating things later on to but it's pretty easy as well see how exploitable it could be to.
Let's see 32 figures at what $15 each = $480
I think it's like $70 for the starter pack
Of course prices will drop probably already have but it's pretty crazy that at the start it probably was well over $500 for the entire collection.

Maybe if there wasn't piracy or file sharing, the company who made the game wouldn't need to create a game with collectibles. Don't get me wrong, this is complete speculation and may not have anything to do with it.
I know you're all bonerized against file sharing, working for adobe and everything, no offense.
