There's a lot of things about how American Football is setup that I don't like.
Few games per season.
No playoffs.
Disproportion of downtime vs. playtime.
These have been barriers for me for it becoming a decent spectator sport.

I don't see what everyone's problem with the BCS systems is. Basically the teams play mutually exclusive subsets of one another (for the most part) then a group of sports writers, coaches, and computers with advanced algorithms pick the best teams from the given data points. This is obviously more scientifically accurate than trusting the outcome of one single high-variance game to determine a champion. Furthermore, I think they should adopt this strategy in all sports, instead of having a world series, they should just use advanced metrics, computational algorithms, votes from experts, and votes from coaches and ex players to determine the major league baseball champion.
