I don't know much about K2 but I think the death rate on Everest is around 10%. The training that people do for climbs like that is BAT**** CRAZY.

K2 is way more difficult to climb than Everest.

Yes, but it's like arguing over whether getting shot or stabbed is worse. They're both brutal. 
Someone should anticipate spending in the tens of thousands to "do it right" and try to best ensure their survival. It's stunning how routine Everest has become. Something like dozens of people attempt the summit daily.

K2 is a 3:1 summit to death ratio
Everest is a paltry 7:1
On a side note, the first 8000m ever climbed in the first shot is also the deadliest: Annapurna has a 2:1 summit/death ratio. -brutal-
